Bought one of these thinking it would be a great replacement for my JD 40V. Well I found out that was a mistake. I cranked more on it to get it started than I have to on my 30 year old JD. Then I went to cut some firewood and as soon as I put pressure to the bar the chain would quit. Finally the bar got so hot it wouldn't even let the chain turn, Most used was 10 minutes, it's going back.

Hitachi 16"
I have had this saw for over a year. Two things about this saw have disappointed me. Most importantly, the saw is very underpowered. Cutting standing trees is painfully slow. I believe a hand saw would be faster. The saw is fine for cutting up limbs on the ground as long as they are smaller than wrist size. anything larger will take too long. Be sure to keep the chain sharp. It will speed cutting. I was also disappointed that the special screw that adjusts chain tension stripped out. I... more

Not Worth The Money
I purchased the Hitachi CS33EB16 in the hopes that it could be used on our pole buildings during the erection process. I liked the light weight and small size since it would have been on a ladder or wile standing on un-sheeted roof framing. The tool arrived in good condition and we oiled and fueled the saw. It was very hard to start the first time, and after the initial start it ran once to cut one post, and never started again. I am using several other 2 stroke tools on the job with the... more

Chainsaw Performance
The saw started and ran well. The only issue I have is the bar does not have a roller nose. You have to keep your chain adjusted properly to get the full benefit of the power. I adjusted it like my other saws with a roller nose and it caused the saw to lug on revving up.

This will take some time to figure it out. I like the weight and will probably get a roller nose bar when I need one. It's mostly used to trim limbs.

Horrible Chain Saw
Worst buy I have made in a long while. Overheats quickly, takes 20 plus pulls to get it to start. Chain was dull after one day of use. I would return it if not for the headache of doing so! Just hope the splitter I bought from you is better. Stay away from this piece of junk!

Great Homeowner Saw!
I took patience to break in the motor, bar/chain, etc....
It runs better, the more I use it.

Reliable, predictable. My husky has been in the shop for 3 weeks. This little guy finished the job.

I actually went out and bought another one, I was so impressed.

I put an Oregon "double guard" sprocket tip bar on the saw to protect the chain, since it has such a small bar..

Predictable and easy to start as a 4 stroke.

Best money I ever spent!

Nice Saw For The Price.
Recently received this saw as a gift, read some reviews that said it was underpowered (that guy was trying to cut a hickory, duh) and didn't start up very easy.

But- there was one that said to put some gas on the air filter. I did that, gave the primer bulb a half dozen pumps and it started up on the third pull.

Didn't want to idle at first but once it had a chance to warm up it idled and ran great. I did a little cutting and it handled it like a champ.

I have used Stihl... more

Returning from manditory evacuation, found a large tree in my yard from my neighbor.

Got some fresh fuel and started up my new saw. Took a while to prime itself, but then started and ran very well all day. Not much power but adequate for small trees and limbs.

Quiet, easy to start, light weight and idles nicely. Simple to clean filter.
