| Chain Saws Direct Recommendation |
| By Chain Saws Direct |
This saw is very similar to our Best pick, but with more good stuff.
The body of the saw is still set long-ways and well balanced; and the engine is a little larger and more powerful- but still weighs under 10 pounds.
The hand guard and chain catcher have been beefed up for more protection and user comfort.
This is still considered a Consumer grade saw, but it will take on most household chores with very little effort, and all but the largest trees and wood piles.

| How to Pick The Perfect Bar Length |
| By Kriss Schrader (Power Equipment Direct, IL) |
When it comes to picking a bar length for your personal chain saw there are a lot of scenarios to keep in mind.
What you want to cut can determine on the size of bar you want to choose.
If you are felling trees you probably want to choose a bar a little bigger, like an 18-20" bar. Keep in mind that you can still fell a tree with a smaller bar, you just need to make more cuts.
Another factor to be mindful of is the bigger the bar, the more the chain saw weighs. You may not notice the weight as much with a smaller arborist-style saw, but this is a big deal when you are planning on cutting all day and you start to get tired on the first cut.
If you plan on just trimming trees, a much smaller bar can be used. Select a chain saw that is easy to handle and won't tire you out when cutting for long periods of time.
If you are looking for a unit that can do it all, a 16" bar may be ideal. You can still take down a good size tree and easily trim pesky branches. |

| Not a good saw |
| By scott mullins (Evans, GA) |
I bought a Husqvarna 440e from this site. When I received the saw, it would not start--even after an hour trying.
I called the Mowers Direct customer service number and they told me once gas has been put in it, they will not accept it returned.
Bottom line- I got a bad saw, they got my money and there's no after-sales support. The customer service rep even got argumentative on the phone. I strongly suggest another retailer.
CSD RESPONDS: As our Customer Service rep tried to explain to you, the warranty is through Husqvarna. You need to call Husqvarna at 800-448-7543.
They will direct you to the nearest Authorized Service Center, where your saw will be repaired at no cost to you.
It is against Federal Law to ship ANY item with an engine, once the engine has been gassed up. We state it plainly on every page of our web site under the Returns Tab (just click on the Customer Service button).
Should you have problems with Husqvarna service, Mowers Direct stands ready to assist in any way we can. Since Husqvarna has one of the highest service ratings in the industry we don't think you will have a problem once you give them a call. |

| I am sorry I waited so long! |
| By Richard (Difficult, TN) |
I was in the market to get a better chainsaw. I checked the reviews online and found that Husqvarna is just as good as a Stihl but costs less.
Then I checked Husqvarna's web site and decided on the 440E. The best price I could find was with Chain Saws Direct, so I ordered it and received it within a few days.
I had been using a Poulan Pro 35cc and a Poulan Pro 42cc for about 2 years. I had no idea what a difference it makes using a better chain saw.
There is no comparison. I could have saved myself so much time just getting the right chainsaw in the first place. The Poulan is okay if you only need to cut up small trees once in a while. |
