Last month I purchased from Lowe's Poulan electric pole chain saw (PLN 1510 with a 1.5 HP). I used it several times and liked it until a few days ago when it fell to the ground on some large rocks. A part cracked. I do not know the name of this part and it is not labeled on the parts diagram on line. It is the big black connecting part on the pole length that has the compresion threads inside. That part is turned to extend or lengthen the pole. I went to a Big Box store for a repalcement part, but they said that they were not able to help me. I do not want to return the pole chain saw, I just need the part and instructions on how to place that part on correctly. That particular part had to be pre-assembled at the factory and had no possible way for the user to replace that very vital part. Can you please help me with getting this problem resolved? by Joe Filippone from New Jersey on June 06, 2012
A: Just give the folks at Poulan Tech Support a call, toll free, at 800-554-6723. They handle all the warranty/repair advice for their products.
Q: I need a replacement chain for an OREGON 8" 91VG036X....fit WEN pole saw. Is it available or is there an alternative? by Joe Lamon from Illinois on August 06, 2011
I bought my Poulian 1510 pole chain saw after a comparable Remington model failed where the plastic nut that tightens to set the adjustable length pole failed and Remington would not supply a replacement part. Well, after a few hours use, the Poulian's plastic pole-adjustment nut failed too. It appears that both models were designed to fail.

Wish I'd Bought It Sooner!
I am amazed at how easy it now is to trim limbs away from the house!
I have been using a 12 foot hand trimmer for years. Ever since I received and have been using my PLN 1510, my jobs are completed in record time!

Just Sold It
Got as a Christmas Present and used three time for a couple of hours each - then it stopped working. After two months, got a replacement unit which I just sold.
Biggest problem is the round extension pole. You can't tighten the extension pole enough to prevent the saw head from spinning around, it is impossible to control the blade angle from the handle.

I bought this saw from a bog box store a couple years ago. I figured for $200 how could I go wrong? I needed to make a couple cuts under 3 inches in diameter and one 6 inch diameter cut.
The saw worked okay with the smaller cuts but failed miserably when I tried to cut through the 6 inch branch. The saw was a total piece of crap, fortunately the big box store refunded my money.
My advice- spend more money and get a better saw!
CSD RESPONDS: There's a reason why this saw is called a Pruner. It's meant for SMALL limbs and branches only. A 6" branch should be handled with several smaller cuts to bring it down to a manageable size.

Total Piece Of Junk
First let me say, I live on a farm that is about 12 miles from the nearest store or town (24 miles round trip). I went to purchase this saw, thought it had everything you needed. Got home to find out it did not have any chain saw oil. No where on the box does it state "Chain Saw Oil needed, Not included". So I had to drive all the way back into town, another 24 miles round trip, to get the oil. Got back home, put oil in the saw, and went out to give it a try. Plugged it in and started to cut a small branch, less than 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and within 20 to 30 seconds, it started to spark, motor started smoking and it just died. Oh, I forgot to state they say the saw can be removed from the pole very easy and used by itself. That is a total lie. You have to undue 4 bolts, take two panels off before you can do that. Then putting the pole back on is not that easy either. So, now I have to drive another 24 miles to return it. I called Poulan's customer service to let them know the problems I had. After waiting on the phone for about 10 minutes I get CUSTOMER NO SERVICE. A young man takes the call and never asked my name, number, product or anything. I started to explain the problem and what was his response, "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT". For real that was his answer. So, I questioned if this was the way Poulan handled their customers and guess what, he hung up on me. So, that made me very angry and I called back. Asked for a supervisor and explained what had happened. They record all phone conversations and she asked for my phone number and will be able to go back and hear the complete conversation. That young man should be glad he has a job. Maybe he will once he is unemployed without being able to file for unemployment. Must of just been having a bad Monday. Anyway, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK" If you do beware.
