1 Question
Q: Mike -
We have a ranch in west central Texas and need to cut some small cedar trees and big bushes scattered over huge areas. Typically the biggest branches will be about the diameter of your wrist.
I'm looking at the best seller Remington electric RM1015P and want to know how to be able to run it off of my pickup truck. For a one person operation, it would be handy to have a 50 to 100 ft extension and drive up to a group of these small cedars, get out and grab the pole saw from the pickup bed and cut the cedars down to the ground. I've looked at various DC to AC inverters, but they all give specs in terms of equipment they run under, e.g., 100 Watts.
I cannot find the Watts on the Remington. Can you tell me the Watts or recommend an inverter? Thanks, Allen by Allen Moody from Texas on August 27, 2011
A: Amps x Volts = Watts. The saw is 6 amps and is meant to work on 120 volt household current, which gives you 720 watts.
Check your Owner's Manual to make sure you won't void your warranty by using an inverter.
Be sure to use a heavy-duty extension cord, especially if it's a 100 foot one. The longer the extension cord, the lower the voltage by the time you get to the end.
Insufficient voltage will shorten the life of your electric chain saw motor. by Mike, Product Expert
