OK so I have several saws including a Remington EL1 (26 years old) and a 6 month old (new in my world) Remington 1415 the new one "was" much lighter and very easy-ier to use.
No problems what-so-ever and on it's 2nd chain resharpening. At least until my "friend" showed up to "HELP" me cut down a leaner about 60 foot tall red oak, 18-20 dia at the base. So I said let me get a real (my 20 YO 62cc Zenoah (RedMax) saw. rather than wait he grabs the Remington and starts in.
Now normal procedure is make a top cut about one quarter thru then cut up from below. There is a reason these trees are called widow makers. Well "da-genius" cuts up from below then tries to make the top cut. Naturally the tree (yeah its heavy) pinches the saw. I said wait I'll get a wedge and we can get the saw out. keep in mind this tree is 90% cut and its a 45 degree leaner.
I return with the wedge and sledge. My friend has grabbed the handle and is yanking and cranking on the saw's handle trying to rip it out of the tree. "DON'T DO THAT" I said.
I now see that the bar is at a 30 degree angle, and the chain has about a 2 inch gap with the bar. If you have no brain like my friend don't buy this saw... it has lots of parts that are PLASTIC.
If you need a great little saw to cut firewood or "limb and trim" within 100 feet of your house (where you can plug in). The 8 amp motor version also has much better balance and is nicely light and plenty strong if the chain stays sharp.
I'm buying another one because I like these little saws which don't require very much care. Unless.....my friend shows up.
