Size Is Really:
This lifting tong is really 10.5 inches between the points of the hook. The Husqvarna timber hook is 12 inches between the points. The difference is significant. I have one of each and two of the smaller Husqvarna lifting thongs that are 8 inches wide. I use them all regularly.
I use the Husqvarna timber hook more than the Oregon because it is larger, and that comes in handy when bringing sawed logs to the wedge of the splitter. The Husqvarna model also has a hole in the handle through... more

Oregon 12" Lifting Tongs
These are great for not only lifting or moving logs but carrying pcs of fire wood that would otherwise be too large to grip with one hand. That way one can carry 2 or more large chunks in one trip.

I have 2 other sets by other mfgrs but these by Oregon are far better because the joints are fastened by lock nuts rather than swedged or riveted.

The lock nuts can be adjusted to be nice and loose to they close easily around the log, making them truly a one-hand device. The other riveted... more

A Back Saving Tool
I harvest 8-10 cords of firewood each season and have done so for many years. The hardest part is picking cut wood off the ground. The tongs allow pick ups with a slight stoop and very little strain on back muscles. I use two tongs. With practice you can throw wood on a trailer a few feet away. Oregon has a very loose action which adds to their efficiency. They may be a little overpriced, but avoiding back strain and pain is worth a lot.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Light Weight, Fast
Cons: Expensive

Easy To Use And Help Carry Logs
This is a really nice thing to have and works on log I would say up to about a foot in diameter. Makes grabbing logs of the pile a lot easier and more ergonomic. Sometimes a bit hard to release, when it is stuck in the log though.
