Poulan Pro 5020
Bought the first saw and wouldn't start. Returned it, received another, thought I was okay, got the second one, follow all directions, started, ran find for about a hour, then problems began. This is the worst I have ever gotten.

When I call Poulan had to return to a repair shop waited not the store wait a week and got it back. Today it would not start, I have decided never another Poulan for me you buy cheap and you get CHEEP. Spend the extra few dollars and get a better brand.

Air Cleaner No Gasket
If you buy a Poulan Pro 50/20 chainsaw first remove air cleaner and put some gun grease in the groove on the air cleaner itself. There is no gasket and sawdust (which is very fine) will be sucked into carb and down into your motor. Simple cheap fix research and development should have caught this! Also poor engineering in design.

I have called Poulan about this problem and they acted like I didn't know what I was talking about! Any dirt sucked into the motor is bad! I'm still waiting for my... more

Poulan Pro Pp4218 Av
I bought Poulan Pro PP4218 AV Last November before Thanksgiving (2015). I only use it two weeks in November. Five days last month. the plate behind the muffler broke. Two bolts that won't hold muffler. I tight it up and in few minutes, Bolts keep coming loose. I tight it up eight times in less than half hours.muffler wont stay on, keeps coming loose.

The muffler fell off and hit chain saw and damages. I have to order. If you use lot, you need to change air filter often. PP4218AV runs good... more

Best Bang For The Buck.
I bought this saw a few months ago, First may I say the stock chain is better served as a Gorilla necklace. No matter what you are cutting, the chain dulls quickly. Also, the chain brake became seized after only 3 weeks. So why the excellent ratings? Generally no saw comes with stock chains that are any good except for perhaps Stihl. Although the chain brake could have been repaired under warranty, who uses them anyways? I disassembled the chain brake and problem solved. The power that this saw... more

You Can't Get This Kind Of Power For This Kind Of Money Anywhere
I bought this saw from an online sale going on and felt that for the money, if it breaks, it can't be that much to have repaired. Well, I haven't had to repair it yet and this thing effortlessly melts through trees with its power. I bought it to clear trees behind our home to make a back yard for the family and boy did it make short work of the job. I will say you should purchase a decent aftermarket chain as the stock one is garbage. All in all for the money, you can't buy a better saw.
Pros: Price, I'd Buy It Again, Easy To Use, Powerful
Cons: Heavy

Good Saw For The Money
I have nothing bad to say about the saw. From day one, I put it to use and it's never failed me once! I know there can be lemons, but this saw isn't one of them. Nice torque and easy to start, this is definitely the best bang for your buck!

Can't Beat It For The Money
First off, this is not the best saw ever, but it's a great tool for the money.

It will cut anything you can hug and then some. This saw is for cutting firewood, the big stuff.

Like all the Poulan tools get the Carb adjust tool when you buy it and run ethanol free fuel and it will last for a lifetime.
Pros: Price, Easy To Use, Exceeded Expectations, Power
Cons: Heavy

A Pretty Good Saw
This is the second Poulan Pro I've had. The first was the 295 20" bar, I bought in 2002. That one was a pretty good saw until recently. It has over 150 hours on it and now needs a complete overhaul. The new one, so far (I bought it three days ago) has dropped three trees, limbed them, and cut them up. The primer bulb is a big help. The chain, as far as I'm concerned, is a good one. After reading the manual and following the instructions about breaking in the saw and the chain, I pulled the... more

Great Value
Pros: Terrific saw for the money starts easy and has the "grunt" to cut through most anything you throw at.
Theres a very good reason this and its craftsman sibling sell so well. Not a difficult saw to maintain.

Cons: Buy the oregon D70 chain when you get this saw because the original blade dulls quick, Ive seen others say the same thing and I can verify this.
I sharpened it and kept it as a back up.
Also ive never seen a saw go through bar oil so fast,Trust me this thing loves... more

Poor Design
When I started the saw the clutch would not engage. I removed the clutch plate and examined the saw. The safety belt would not fit over the clutch and I could not get the saw back together. I took the saw to a former Poulin dealer who could not assemble the saw and agreed with me that it is a piece of garbage. The instruction book is poorly detailed and does not show a clear picture of the assembly.
Cons: Low Quality, Bad Instructions

Charles,
Sorry to hear about your negative experience with your Poulan Saw. I would advise returning this saw to Home Depot and request a full refund, as this saw has grossly not met your expectation. I would recommend the Husqvarna 450 with a 20" bar. The Poulan saws are made with a 5 piece crank and the Husqvarna uses a 3 piece crank. Less moving parts is always better. While the Husqvarna will be a little more expensive, I believe it will meet your expectation and you will be very impressed. You may also want to look at the 445 with an 18" bar and chain. Regardless you will be satisfied with either saw as they offer superior performance and are built to last a long time.

$200 For Less Than An Hour Of Work
I bought this chainsaw from the local Tractor Supply company. This afternoon to take care of some down trees from a recent storm. Filled it with the proper mixture, put in the chain oil and it fired right up. Well then it died. Pulled again and it fired right up..... then it died. I played this game for a few minutes and it eventually stayed started and continued to finish the rather small job. Left that property and came home to work on another tree only to have the saw stop 15mins into the... more

Saw Attic
Well I run Sthil, Husky, and Jonsered and the Poulan Pro is the worst one of the bunch! The saw lacks the torque the others have. It doesn't have the power for the 20 inch bar and is assembled poorly from the factory. I had loose a flywheel nut and striped the timing key on it the first pull. The only good things that I can say about it is I like the wrench holder on it and it came with a case. I bought the saw because of the price, like a lot of the other people. Pay the extra money and get... more

Cheap Cheap Saw
Wife purchased this saw at Tractor Supply (because it was cheap) $200.00. I had read some reviews and they weren't good, pull till your arm falls off! Not a joke. I talked to a small engine guy and he said if I used non ethanol fuel it would be okay. I should have taken it back! I purchased fuel at the local airport, (aviation gas has no ethanol) I used the saw for 45 minutes and 20 min were used constantly restarting it. At the last it would not restart. I will hope Tractor Supply will take it... more
